Jefferson County Library Teen Advisory Board Ongoing Event

Are you between the ages of 11 and 18?

Would you like to make a difference in programs available for teens at the library?

Join the JCL Teen Advisory Board and help plan the library programs for teens for this winter, spring, and summer. This is a great opportunity to help facilitate a teen programs at Jefferson County Library. First meeting will be held at the library on Thursday, December 6 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.

Babytime Ongoing Event

Tuesdays @ 10:30 am - Babytime

This 20-minute lap sit program for infants from birth to 12 months features action rhymes, baby sign language, songs and movement designed to stimulate brain development and the enjoyment of music, language and books.

Toddler Storytime Ongoing Event

Mondays @ 10:15 am - Toddler Storytime

Toddler storytime is for children ages 12 months to 30 months and features movement, music, puppets and fingerplays as well as flannel stories and the reading of short books written with toddlers in mind.

 

Babytime
Every week on Tuesday from 11:30, but not on: 27.12nd2018, 01st01st2019PM to 5:55PM starting April 4th through April 4th.

Specifically:

  • Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 11:30AM to 12:00PM

This lap-sit program for infants from birth to 12 months features action rhymes, baby sign language, songs and movement designed to stimulate brain development and the enjoyment of music, language, and books.

Preschool Storytime
Every week on Wednesday from 11:30, but not on: 26.12nd2018PM to 5:55PM starting April 4th through April 4th.

Specifically:

  • Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 11:30AM to 12:15PM

Bring your preschooler and enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays, and more, designed to promote early learning. Preschool Storytime is followed by a craft or activity that encourages networking and enriches literacy.

Community Art
On the 2nd Saturday each month from 15:00PM to 5:55PM starting April 4th through April 4th.

Specifically:

  • Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM

Community Art is a monthly program for everyone, whatever your level of art experience. Each month brings a new art activity!

Each session starts with a short talk and demonstration of the project, followed by hands-on creative work. Bring your families or come by yourself, invite an elder, join as a couple, or bring a pack of friends! Explore a diverse lineup of art projects using quality materials, and facilitated by professional art educator Sidonie Maroon.

Toddler Storytime

Boffer Swordplay and Exercise
On the 3rd Friday each month from 16:00PM to 1:52PM starting April 8th through April 8th.

Specifically:

  • Friday, April 19, 2019 from 4:00PM to 5:30PM

Boffer swordplay is a physical sport with light contact, similar in intensity to soccer and a pillow fight combined.  Boffers, constructed of foam-wrapped PVC pipe, duct tape and some imagination are used in live-action role-playing games and mock combat. 

This after-school activity attracts kids and teens ages 6 to 18.  Chaz Hillyard will coach participants and boffers are provided by the library if you don’t bring your own.
