Briefly describe the program, volunteer work, or partnerships you or your organization may offer.
Over the next seven months (through November of 2016) I will be actively campaigning for PUD Commissioner for the Jefferson PUD, district 1 while also working for Power Trip Energy as a solar agent. My availability during this time period will be fairly limited, mainly available for short meetings, lunch, coffee/tea, that sort of thing. After the election, I hope to be more available. If successful in my bid to become a PUD Commissioner, I would like to reach out to schools to talk about the potential to use our publicly owned utility to encourage and promote the generation of local renewable energy. I believe that embracing the "localness" of things like food production and renewable energy generation will be the key to transforming our local economy and making it stronger while protecting the environment and creating local jobs and investment opportunities.
You have indicated an expertise in Law and Public Service
I am an attorney and worked for Port Townsend, Grant County, and Yakima County in Washington State as a land use planner for 12 years. I am currently running for public office for the position of Commissioner of the Jefferson Public Utility District.
You have indicated an expertise in Natural Resources, Ecology, Water and Land Usage
As a land use planner, my job was to help protect the ecology and natural resources of Port Townsend and the two counties I worked for in eastern Washington through the development of codes and plans that regulate land use development. I began my career with the Washington Growth Management Act was being implemented (early 1990s).
You have indicated an expertise in Transportation and Energy
For the past 10 years I have worked in the renewable energy industry as a solar designer and sales agent for Power Trip Energy, an electrical contracting firm specializing in solar PV (photo-voltaic) installations. Jefferson County leads the state of Washington in terms of solar PV systems installed per person. As part of my job, I drive an electric vehicle, a Tesla powered Toyota RAV4 with a range of 120 - 130 miles.
